Scleral Lenses - Vikash Optometrist

Keratoconus is an example of an eye condition that you may not have heard of before, but it is one that can ultimately lead to serious eye health concerns unless treated. Keratoconus impacts the cornea which is the front surface of the eye. It causes the cornea to thin which results in it bulging into a cone shape. This cone shape distorts the vision and can lead to loss of vision in the eye.
When diagnosed early, however, treatments and management options are available.

These revolutionary contact lenses are custom-made for you which then assists in correcting your vision, improving comfort, and keeping the eye bathed in moisture.

Scleral lenses sit on the conjunctiva overlying the sclera (the white part of your eye) and vaults the cornea which helps to reduce discomfort that people with corneal irregularities often experience when wearing tradition contact lenses.

At the practice, I correct and manage keratoconus mostly with the use of Scleral Lenses.
